Yesterday I scored a couple of nice plush at Goodwill. At this store most of the plush are in a bin for 49 cents. One of the plush I picked up was a Folkmanis Bobcat Hand Puppet.
When I researched it I found that mine should sell for about $19.99 plus shipping but I also saw that some of this brand of puppets are worth far more. I've seen these puppets in stores before and noticed how cool they are. They make all kinds of different animals and they are well made. Check out the completeds sorted by price. So if you are digging through the plush and find any puppets keep this brand in mind. Has anyone else ever sold one of these or know of other puppets that are good sellers? I did pick up three Restoration Hardware hand puppets during the same shopping trip but haven't taken pictures of them yet.
I really like Folkmanis as well. I've found that they usually sell in the first 30 days. I sold a Bald Eagle puppet a couple weeks ago. It was a fun one.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I can't tell you how jealous I am that your GW sells plush for 49 cents. I rarely go to GW because the prices are so high, but I did stop in one earlier this week and most plush were $4.99(!!).
A Bald Eagle. Cool! I was just looking at a picture of a real bald eagle. I remember being in a store that sold them and falling in love with the nest of baby birds....Awww...Yes I'm lucky. At both Goodwills I visit they stick all the plush in a big bin and they are all 49 cents with some exceptions for ones they deem better. I was also going to get a Hello Kitty plush yesterday until I realized it was $4.99. I used to go to a thrift that had a barrel of free plush. I found at least one worth selling in the barrel.
DeleteI used to be grossed out by the idea of used plush but now I actually enjoy getting out my designated toothbrush and spiffing their fur up or for the ones I wash how great they look fresh out of the dryer.
DeleteI remember several years ago (pre-eBay) people offering to let my oldest son have plush for free at yard sales, and me never letting him take it. I was grossed out by the idea too. Fast forward a few years, and it's by far my favorite thing to sell. Cheap to buy (at yard sales anyway), easy to store and ship. I love digging through plush at yard sales now!
DeleteYes it sometimes seems like an untouched goldmine when I check the plush at the thrifts.
DeleteI like these puppets too and have some some in the past. Although it seems that puppets in general are a good seller on ebay. Nice score!

Good to know puppets in general are good bets. It was the first time I came across a puppet of any type. I'll be looking more carefully for them now.
DeleteI've had good luck with Folkmanis puppets also. I recently sold a beaver one, a turtle, and a tortoise. And they usually sell fast. I send them to the spa (wash&dry) before putting my hand inside. I sold a set of 5 Restoration Hardware wild animal puppets that my daughter found for some good $$ a while back.
ReplyDeleteProbably a good idea for them to go to the spa before putting your hand in. I couldn't resist and stuck my hand in right away at the same time thinking of what could be lurking inside...a spider! a booger! who knows LOL.
DeleteI share Kari's jealousy - my GW also prices plush through the roof ("through the roof" meaning "more than $1", ha ha).
ReplyDeleteThat said, I did get a little Folkmanis cat puppet this morning for $2. We'll see how he does... I'm sure he'll at least pay for himself in the end. Unlike some of my other "finds". :}
I hear ya Kait. I have finds that don't pay for themselves too.
DeleteI have always adored plush hand puppets and Folkmanis are amazing. Looking forward at visiting the GW for finding something. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHand puppet are making should be unique puppet and should have good unique puppet design because that can make your look attractive.
