The Weirdest Sale I've EVER Had on Ebay
I just returned home yesterday from a few days visiting family to find a large box delivered by Fed Ex from a company called Liquid Gold. I figured it had to be something I ordered since I recently ordered packing supplies. This morning I went to open the box and started realizing I'd already received all of the packing supplies I ordered…so what could this be? The box contained two gift wrapped packages..someone sent me a gift? I could find no card. The mystery grew deeper. The first package I opened contained a box of mac and cheese, then there was an apron and one more package. I opened the last package and was totally thrown to see it was an ebay package that I had sent out and was now receiving back? Hunh? At this point I was totally confused. I opened the package up to discover the Revere Ware pan I had sold a few months back with a note attached. Still confused (I'm slow to catch on and it's still technically morning so)…I tried to look at who I'd sold it to thinking it never arrived but the sale was too old and I couldn't look it up. Then I started googling. Pretty quickly I found these very funny commercials (and this one) and a Facebook page (see the comments on the top right) . Apparently it's a very clever (I think) promotion by Kraft. Read the note which explains it all. I didn't read the note until I'd actually googled and found out what was going on. Yes, I'm one of those people who doesn't read instructions when putting something together...
Cool! So in essence I sold the pan and get to sell it again and got a free box of dinner and an apron and a topic for a blog post! Sure did put my brain to work this morning. Heh. This is hands down the weirdest sale I have EVER had on ebay. EVER. Can anyone top it? What is the weirdest sale you have ever had? Had you heard of this promotion?

That is hilarious! Awesome deal though!
ReplyDeleteYes it made me smile after I finally figured it out.
DeleteHey! That's pretty quirky! Interesting way to get the word out about their product. I have a Farberware skillet for sale on ebay. Maybe that will happen to me too!
ReplyDeleteI wish more companies would follow suit and buy more of our stuff. Lego could buy your legos and send you a gift to sell :)
DeleteOOOH! I just saw a really cool Lego shaped lunch box online. I would take that!
DeleteThat's so funny! I wish I had a pan to sell! ~~Pam
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw the return address, Liquid Gold, I thought maybe it was white wine :)
DeleteI love it! haha!!
ReplyDeletei LOVE it that is hysterical!
ReplyDeleteNancy is there any way you could find me a Polish Barbie?
ReplyDeleteI got the same box!! I'm glad to know that someone else was just a mystified as I was. My box had a vintage copper bottom saute pan and I remember the address for the package and thought it was strange that someone would use their ebay name as their shipping name. LiquidGoldLover. But, hey, I will be glad to sell that pan again.
ReplyDeleteWow! Glad to see someone I know got one too! I already relished mine :)
DeleteThat's awesome! I saw on a couple of my ebay facebook groups where that happened to a few other sellers. I sold a Revere Ware lid a few weeks ago, but alas, no surprise in the mail :)
ReplyDeleteYes it was fun. I'd not heard of it before I received the package so I was totally confused! I wonder if they are still buying pans? Maybe they will buy the pan the bought before that I relished this week!
DeleteSO WEIRD, because i read this blog post on the train coming home from nyc to virginia (our 3 week trip). and what is sitting, waiting for me with all my mail? a return box with a revere ware skillet and another box with velveeta pasta and an apron. jay opened it like "what the heck is this?" and i say "that's so weird, i just read about that on nancy's blog an hour ago!". bizarre.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny Ryanne. You're the third blogger including myself who I know who got one. And just in case you're wondering the apron is printed upside down so the cook just has to look down to read the instructions. Took me a long time (and the internet) to figure that out. Can't wait to hear more about your trip.
