Pokemon Help and FBA

This week I created my first FBA shipment to Amazon. I've been inspired by some booksellers including Andrew who did an interview on Scavenger Life this past week. I have a couple hundred books listed on ebay and I decided to move a lot of them to Amazon. I may not make as much profit on them but it will free up a lot of shelf space and some of them I've had listed already on ebay a long time.

My first box was 30 books and weighed 25 pounds. It should arrive at Amazon in the next couple days. I'm excited to see how this goes. I like to buy books but I simply don't have the room to store the volume of them that I buy. If I do FBA the space is infinite ;) It did take quite a while to prepare the shipment. I don't have a scanner so I put them in manually. Alot of FBAers have scanners and just scan the bar code. I'm sure that would be quite a bit quicker. We'll see how this experiment goes before I do that.

Can any of you or your kids help me name these Pokemon characters? I have no clue and it seems like there are hundreds of different characters out there. This is a duvet that I just listed on ebay. I've sold quite a few Pokemon items including sheets, pillowcases and plush.

  2. I would love a short tutorial about how to start selling books on Amazon. Would you be willing to share a couple key points?

Here's an eBay/Amazon seller who is doing very well doing this, in case you have not seen her blog.

I love the idea of getting stuff out of the house right away. I don't have a scanner either, but it might be a good investment.

    1. Thank you for the link. I'll check her out. Once I get more comfortable with it maybe I'll do a tutorial. I did learn a couple of things though that I'll point out here. A lot of my books are vintage and don't have UPC codes or ISBN numbers. For those books I was asked to put in measurements. It freaked me out at first until I realized what was happening. Also Amazon says you have to use a thermal or laser printer to print your individual labels but I saw someone else talk about using inkjet. Since this is all I have that is what I used. I hope it's not an issue. I used standard address labels. You have to put a label on each book. I already had an Amazon seller account so I did not have to set one up. If you have any specific questions let me know and I'll try to help.

  4. hope it works out for you good luck and congrats on the FBA plunge. If you do end up with a laser printer you can get a Brothers 1 for around $50. My inkjet broke in January toner is SO MUCH cheapr than ink....even refilled ink :D

    1. Thank you Grace. That is good to know. I think I will eventually end up getting a laser or thermal printer. It seems like that is the way to go!

    2. i have both a laser and thermal label printer. Honestly if I had to do it again I would skip the label printer and just get the pre-stuck half sheet paper that go into the laser/injet printer. The label printer paper is really expensive (retail $25 a roll prints 150 labels)

    1. So far I'm anxiously waiting for my boxes to get the warehouse. Like a kid at Christmas. I'll keep you all up to date. My sister started recently too. She was given a lot of books free of charge and I told her she could do much better on amazon than selling them at a rummage sale. Helping her get started inspired me to start myself.
