Toilet Paper Tubes

To the annoyance of my house mate I've been saving ALL the toilet paper roll tubes to sell on ebay or etsy. More to recycle than to make money. They took FOREVER to sell but finally I lowered the price enough and listed them on etsy. Below is Bailey, for reference, next to 150+ toilet paper tubes ready to ship. I got $14.99 plus shipping. Obviously Bailey is not impressed.

Pinterest has loads (no pun intended) of crafts and art that you can do with these. Here is my recent favorite. Once it gets closer to Christmas (ugh) I want to do this with the folks at the assisted living where my parents live.

  1. Wow, lots of great craft ideas. I saw one use where you cut out eye holes and then put a glow stick inside the tube. Place the tubes around your yard at night on Halloween and it looks like creatures with glowing eyes hiding all around.

  2. I've been saving them too! Have you noticed the USPS is charging extra for boxes taped together? I ship things in the 36 x 5 x5 tubes and I noticed that just in the last couple of months if I have a box that's 36x7 it may cost $15 to ship somewhere, but if the box is 36x8 the price will jump to $27.

    1. That's weird. Do you purchase your postage online? I don't think I've ever been charged more when I tape boxes together. It's just based on the final dimensions as far as I know.

  3. Are you kidding me, do people actually BUY empty TP rolls?? Can't they save up their own? I use them sometimes for (unraveled) yarn winding, got too many already, would donate to kindergarten if I knew one that wanted them.

    1. Yes! It's a big thing on Pinterest. Toilet paper roll crafts and art. I think people buy them when they need a lot for schools etc. Kindergartens would probably gladly accept yours! Weird hunh? :)
