My Best Sales This Week

I had a better than usual sales week this week. I also have reached a new high inventory of 575. Yay! My best sales were

This Callaway golf shirt. Paid $1.50 and sold for 24.99 plus shipping

A vintage pipe tobacco jar. This sat on my shelves unlisted for a long time because I wasn't sure what it was. The facebook group What is This? figured it out for me. I paid $2 for it and it sold for $49.99 plus shipping.

And lastly, I sold this for my sister and took a 30% commission. Does anyone else remember Little Kiddle dolls? Yes, she is topless. Maybe her new owner can take care of that. She's going to Hawaii, lucky gal. She sold for $62.99 with free shipping.

I have sold some things for family without taking a commission but there is too much work involved and I have too much unlisted inventory to do it for free. What do you do when someone asks you to sell something for them?

I hope you all had a good sales week. By the way, none of my Valentine related items sold...oh well.

  1. I've never heard of Little Kiddle dolls. That's a crazy price you got for it! Nice sale on the tobacco jar too. I don't sell for other people. I used to but stopped. It can make for sticky situations especially if the item doesn't sell for as much as they think it's worth. I claim my ebay income on my taxes so that also makes it more complicated.

    1. I agree selling for other people creates more problems than it is worth. My sister and I both had Little Kiddle dolls. Some were scented. There were also bracelets, pins...all kinds of manifestations. I never see them in the thrift stores but if you do definitely pick them up. They are very collectible.

  2. Good job on the tobacco jar. I would have never guessed what it was.
I sell some things for my daughter and we split the profit 50/50. She finds some really great things and realizes it is a lot of work. Especially when she buys something, then hands it to me dirt and all and says sell this. I try to steer her away from stuff that won't make at least $25-30 profit. Sometimes she has a winner. But she never has more than $1-3 invested.
I'll have to look for Little Kiddle dolls. I had forgotten about them.

    1. That's cool that your daughter looks for things and you split the profit. You're right cleaning can add a lot of time and work to an listing.

I thought the tobacco jar was just a knick nacky thing that a man might put on his dresser and keep his doodads in....hah. Little did I know! If you look up pipe tobacco jars there are tons of different types. Some are really cool and some very valuable.

  3. Great sales! If friends/family ask if I will sell something for them, I will generally look at the item to see if it's worth listing, and if it is, I will just buy it from them (at a price where I can still make a decent profit) and then list it. I just purchased a huge pile of stuff from a friend this weekend. I paid $100 for the items, and I should make around $600.

    1. That's a good way to do it. If I needed inventory that would be the way to go. I've over shopped though and need to focus on clearing out my backlog. I've been doing pretty well. I listed over 100 books in lots this week.
