Broadway Here I Come!

It's been an exciting week on eBay and Etsy.

I sold this vintage banjo barometer on Etsy for the set for a play on Broadway. I can't decide if it's okay or not to divulge buyers in this type of situation. I really want to because I find it really exciting but a lot of people say all purchases should be private. What do you say? In the last couple of months I've sold two items to upcoming tv series and now this item to a play. Since I sold a few things for set design I am obsessed with the set design when I watch a movie/tv of a vintage era. I keep pausing to look at every little thing i the set. I realize now that lots of that comes from ebay and etsy. A woman on etsy got a piece of her art on a Netflix original series. I started watching the show so that I could see her piece and then binge watched the entire series. Waiting for season 2 now :)

My other exciting sale is also a BOLO. I purchased several Webkinz plush toys at the weigh and pay last weekend. It was half off day so they were cheap and I took just the ones I thought were unique in some way. I know absolutely NOTHING about Webkinz. I got them home and was researching them and found out that the Webkinz in the Signature series can be quite valuable. I turned a purchase of less than a dollar into a sale for over $100 in one day. Here are the completeds on Webkinz Signature Series

I also sold an American Girl plush owl for $20. It's about 5" tall and cost about 25 cents. I used to be grossed out by used plush. I envisioned remnants of baby drool and sticky food hands all over them.  I currently have 20 plush listed in my ebay store. I purchased a really cool plush parrot hand puppet this week. He looked a little scruffy but with a comb out he looks brand new. Do you sell plush?

Have a good weekend. Find some treasures. Sell lots of stuff!

  1. I remember how excited I was when I sold a prop for a TV show. It never made it onscreen but the experience for me was thrilling anyway. I don't blame you for wanting to share. I sold some plush for a while. You really have to know your characters, but it can be a big payoff if you find some rare ones.

    1. I can't wait for the shows that bought my items to air. I'll probably watch each episode multiple times backwards and forwards. It adds a little spark of excitement to a sale, that's for sure.

  2. Little did I know about those Webkinz but I have never seen them in the thrift shops either.
I pick up the Ty beanie babies with tags and in good condition to embellish baby shower gifts.

  3. I sold a lamp shade last year for some kind of stage setting. I thought it was a horrible thing, but when I posted it on my blog someone reacted it wasn't so bad.

The webkinz plush is too cute. I have a Husky somewhere but without a tag so I can't tell what it is. Don't mind keeping it anyway.

    1. If you wanted to sell it you could probably tell just by comparing it to pictures on ebay. The huskies are one of the highest selling. There is a gray one and a black and white one. The gray one seems to sell for less.

    2. That is sooo cool! At first I read that as Rolex LOL.

I sold a vintage children's science book to an upcoming Netflix series called Stranger Things. I just checked and it premieres July 15th. I'll be glued to my screen!

      Go Netflix!

  5. Congrats on the sales. I absolutely LOVE hearing about shows that buy props from my favorite bloggers! It's just so fun.
Speaking of props, the ones on Mad Men made nice profits for eBay sellers. All of a sudden those ginormous Selectric typewriters were hot! I've always loved the touch of the Selectric - high quality and solid as a rock. I think I have three; one is an awesome red color.

I watched the show Aquarius just to see the vintage items. I stopped because the show turned a little too creepy for me.

As for plush, I usually stay away but one time I saw this wee little dog and he just looked special. I bought him for a quarter and found out he was the American Girl dog, Cooper. He's waiting to be listed, but subconsciously, I think I want to keep him around a little longer.

I've sold a couple of vintage typewriters that I picked up at garage sales. It's funny because I learned to type in high school before computers were a thing. When I tried to type on the vintage typewriters I could barely push the keys down!! They weren't electric. I can't imagine the strength people must have developed in their fingers back when they typed on those things. Can't imagine writing a book on one!

  6. How exciting Nancy. I don't think it's private. Did they specify that you weren't allowed to say anything?

I just ordered the Language of Flowers audiobook from the library. I love flowers, so hopefully I'll like the book. Thanks for the recommendation!

    1. Let me know what you think of the book. It's one of those that stays with you and you think about afterward. I love flowers too :) And all plants pretty much.

They didn't say it should be kept private. Maybe I'll do a big reveal in a future post. ;)
