My Best Sales This Week

Sandra Boynton Mug. Paid .49. Sold for $22.95 plus shipping. I always pick up Sandra Boynton when I find it. It usually sits for a while but sells for a good price. Right now I also have a Boynton table cloth in my store but in the past have sold pillowcases and greeting cards.

This vintage light globe. I had this forever. I was going to do something with it myself but never did. I don't remember how much I paid for it but I'm sure it was less than $5. Sold for $37.99 plus shipping.

I've heard that these old hand held games are good sellers but never came across any before. I found three at an estate sale last week for a dollar each. One ended up not working. The other is a Yahtzee game which is still listed and this Solitaire game. Paid $1 Sold for $39.99 free shipping.

And last these sundae glasses. Paid a couple dollars and sold for $19.95 plus shipping.

Tip of the Week

Walgreens is having a sale on packing tape right now (at least as of yesterday). I cleaned out three stores! The Wexford brand small rolls in the dispenser are usually over $3 and are now 99 cents. I love the brown colored as I use it to cover up things on my shipping boxes that I don't want to show…like liquor brands, UPCs etc. They had clear too but not as much. Of course the brown can also be used to seal your boxes. Just doesn't work very well for taping on postage :)

Best Church Sale Ever

We went to a church rummage sale yesterday unlike any other sale I've been too. When we walked in a man came up to us and told us they were raising money for their youth group. Nothing was marked you paid what you wanted. Oh my god! I paid $10 for 2 boxes of stuff. It was hard to decide what to pay. I didn't want to rip them off but also wanted to take advantage and get a good deal. I hope I did okay. They seemed happy when I offered $10.

  1. Those are some great flips Nancy. With the Boynton mugs, are yours in like perfect shape. I passed one up recently cause the inside looked pretty bad and I wasn't sure if I could clean it up well enough. I'm kind of regretting it now as it was only $.49. But it's the first one I came across around here in over a year.

And wow, what a great church sale. Hey, if they were happy with the $10, then you shouldn't feel bad about it. :)

    1. Hi Margaret. I usually only buy mugs in perfect condition. Silverware marks inside the mug will often come off with a baking soda paste and some scrubbing but sometimes they don't so if it's in good condition with silverware marks I'll buy it and try to clean it up. If it doesn't clean up I'll sell it cheap 5 - 10 dollars.

    2. Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide gets those pesky silverware marks out with no problem at all. Just let it sit and rinse. I bought a bunch of Starbucks mug that were really bad. Luckily they had no chips or cracks.. This method was fantastic and afterwards the mugs looked like new.

    3. I'm going to try that. I just had a mug yesterday that baking soda alone didn't work. Thanks for the tip.

  2. Awesome flips Nancy! I'll be looking out for those handheld games from now on! That photo of the lamp globe came out really nice. What pretty details.

  3. Thanks Lorraine. It was a pretty light globe. I'd had it for a while. Sometimes I hang onto stuff I like for too long. It would be different if I was using it but it just sits cause I don't want to give it up. Hmmm dangerously close to hoarderism. I'm being tougher on myself lately though. I need the money and it's not going to make money sitting on a shelf.

  4. I always pick up Boynton mugs, too, but they're getting hard to find. And what a great church sale! Sounds like they were happy with the exchange! Hope you got some great stuff.

    1. Mostly I got koala bears :) Someone was a collector of koala stuff so I picked through and got some I thought looked more valuable. One collectible plate lists for $80 off of ebay so that hopefully will be a winner.

    1. I started using the first roll today and it seemed to be dispensing harder…hmmm. I wonder if it's why they are cheap. I hope all of the rolls aren't this way. I've used this brand before and never had a problem.

  6. Thanks so much! I learn so much from these blogs. I had a cute mug that I picked up b/c it looked ... I don't know, just like something that someone might want, but I saw it had balloons, was basically a Happy Birthday mug, so I put it aside and never listed it. Just now saw your post about Boynton items, so I hauled it out and checked. Sure enough, it was hers. That jewel is being listed tonight! Thanks again!

    1. Cool! Good luck with it. It may take a few months to sell but I can usually make $20 on them.

    1. Part of the key is numbers. As your inventory increases your sales will increase. Don't give up. Try and list every day.
