I got this yesterday at an estate sale. It's a brass duck clip that measures about 4 3/4" in length. It appears to be made to hang on a wall. Ive never seen one and am wondering what it might be for. The duck's bill opens to clip something. Any ideas?
Edited to add: see the comments. Tony from Mississippi Pickers came in with some great information.
WOW Great find !! I have seen these before, its an antique bill holder. These can go for a few hundred dollars to the right buyer.

Wow thanks Tony! I had no idea it was worth anything. I can't wait to do more research. I'm so glad I posted this and you read it :)
Deleteyour welcome :-)
DeleteYou have a great eye because many people would have just passed that item by and not even given it a second thought.
Thank you. I notice the unusual. I also pick up a lot of stuff worth $4.99 LOL.
DeleteOooh! Looks like you struck gold Nancy! Woo hoo! Congrats to the Mississippi Pickers for knowing what it was! :-)
ReplyDeleteI never guessed. I'm glad I picked it up. There was no price on it and it was just mixed in with a bunch of kitchen utensils. I don't like buying stuff that isn't marked because I'm always afraid they'll charge me some ungodly price for a spatula haha but I'm so glad I did.
DeleteAwww shucks Mam it twernt nothing ;-)
ReplyDeleteTwas too! :)
DeleteWow! Congrats! Great find!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I just listed it. I listed it high with best offer. I could only find a few that ranged in price from $100 to 400. But no solids in that price range. I think it will probably be an item I have to wait for the right buyer to come along.
DeleteI never would have guessed what this what. It's a BEAUTIFUL item :)
